Abstract:
This research paper investigates the significant effect of sleep quality and duration on academic performance among high school students. By conducting surveys and statistical analysis, our study reveals that sufficient sleep positively correlates to better grades and increased cognitive abilities.
Introduction:
The lack of sleep has become a global concern due to its negative impact on various aspects of life, including health, emotional wellbeing, and academic outcomes. This paper explore the intricate relationship between sleep patterns, specifically quantity and quality, and academic performance among high school students. Through quantitative data collection methods such as surveys and statistical analysis, we seek to validate existing theories about the role of adequate rest in fostering academic success.
Methods:
Our research was carried out through an online survey distributed to a representative sample of 500 high school students across diverse educational institutions. Participants were asked to report their typical sleep hours per night over the past year and provide their current grade point average GPA. Statistical tools, including correlation analysis and regression, were employed to examine the relationship between sleep duration, quality, and academic performance.
Results:
The survey data indicated a strong positive correlation between adequate sleep and high academic achievement. Specifically, students who reported sleeping 7-9 hours per night demonstrated significantly higher GPAs compared to those with shorter or irregular sleep patterns. Additionally, respondents reporting better sleep quality experienced improved concentration and memory retention, which in turn contributed positively to their academic performance.
